Haha this rings true ,except Stephen being a mother is the reason I now have ADHD. Every time I sit to write I think of the things that I should be doing that make me the best mother. My brain reverts to it’s not your time. It’s my baby’s time. She comes first so call it procrastination or just looking after the real number one. Even my attempts to self actualise are so they can serve as inspiration to her.

Keep to your dreams, and tend them even if in small bites. As a mother, I awoke at four am. to write before waking my family. Today, I give time to an aged parent and a grandchild. I’ve learned to steal time where I can. My dreams are still here, important and tended in creative ways. It’s a long haul, but I have no regrets. I write and paint around and with life. You will find your way. I’m cheering for you.

Believe me when I tell you that life without a Mother is extremely difficult. Mine was extremely mentally ill. Disabled. Unable to care for me or my brother. Constant delusion. A lifetime of Lithium and Asenopine. She barely had any grasp of objective reality at all. Talking to herself. Babbling incoherent nonsense. She died 2 Sundays ago and I’m picking up the ashes Friday. I was thinking that it would have been nice if she could have made sense of the world, so she could have done something meaningful. But then I realized that she made my brother and I. Just because she wasn’t able to care for us doesn’t strip her of the meaning of having children. Mission accomplished.

Being responsible and putting others first doesn’t mean sacrificing yourself. We have to take care of own health in order to take care of others. As always, its about balance.

Until this post I hadn’t thought of unconditional love or devotion applying to work, Steve. But just as I’ve never loved my daughter for any other reason than she exists, the same is true of writing. A person, the blank page, the call is always the same. Have fun, and learn a lot.
I’m now 74 as of a few days ago I’ve raised 3 boys ,this year my husband has been in and out of the hospital every month but 2,Every chance I get I write a note. Read something inspiring ,write down words I hear I’m determined if only for myself,BEST WISHES TO All THANK YOU STEVEN
