Notes from the Inner War

My girlfriend Diana and I were shooting a video for the “Warrior Archetype” series when we came upon this charming country cottage.

It reminded me of a place I once lived in, at a critical juncture in my long struggle to learn how to write.

We decided on the spur of the moment to shoot a video for “Writing Wednesdays” using this cottage as a backdrop.

Here it is:

As I listened to this for the second time, I thought about another Stephen I’ve enjoyed over the years. Stephen Covey writes somewhere in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People that, “Private Victories always precede public victories.”

When we talk about developing character, I think of it as 1000s upon 1000s of promises we kept to ourselves. The most important muscle to exercise is our promise-making muscle.

Brian, I think the most important muscle we can develop is our heart.
When the heart is in it we want to succeed, and Steven definitely puts his heart into his endeavors.
For that I am grateful 🙂

    Sincerely,

    Marie

      Marie,
Well said. I amend my statement. 2nd most important muscle is the promise-making muscle.
